Lauren Silva Laughlin has been a journalist for more than 20 years, writing for Reuters, the Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine and other publications, most recently leading the U.S. commentary team at Reuters through the 2024 election. She started her career as a media investment banker at Deutsche Bank, before joining a then-financial commentary start-up as one of its first employees in New York. She helped to build and shape that company, Breakingviews, before it was sold to Reuters in 2009.

Lauren is also the product of a sperm donor, which she found out well into adulthood. She doesn't begrudge her parents for harboring this secret for decades - the world was much different all those years ago. Plus the genetic match between her mother and the other 50% of her DNA took her a long way. Lauren graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in finance and mathematical science. She was an All-American swimmer, an academic All-American, and she tried out for the Olympics in 1996 and 2000.

Lauren seeks to create full fertility autonomy for anyone who has ever thought about having a baby. She wants people to feel empowered to make the choices that are best for their family and be proud of them. Batch will break down all barriers and reduce shame by story telling. And with all those years of journalism under her belt, Lauren's north star continues to be seeking and speaking truth, which will help.

Lauren lives in Connecticut with her husband and two teenagers.
